Franklin Kuo is a pioneer on the Internet with over 30 years of experience in networking. In the late 1960s, he directed the seminal computer- communications project called the ALOHA System, whose technology led to the formulation of local area networks. The ALOHA network was one of the first nets connected to the earliest Internet, which was then called ARPANET. In 1972, he and his colleague, Noman Abramson published the earliest book on computer networking. In the early 1980s, he led a research project at SRI which conceived the earliest design of the US National Science Foundation Network, or NSFNET. Kuo also served as Director of SRI`s Network Information Center which was the central information resource of the Arpanet and the subsequently the Internet.
