Philippe Renard born in 1939 studied engineering (Ecole Supérieure d'Electricité) and began his career in the computer organizations of Electricité de France for 4 years.
In addition, he was part of the National Committee for Scientific Research for 9 years and was for 4 years vice president of IFIP (International Federation for Information 
Processing).
